Puerto del Carmen, located in the center-south of the island, 10 minutes from the international airport, is the main tourist area of Lanzarote. It went from being a small fishing village barely populated to become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Canary Islands. It all began in the 60s with the construction of the Hotel Fariones and the Hotel San Antonio, facts that would mark the future of the area. The name of the town honors the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of sailors. The day of Carmen is celebrated by embarking the virgin and making a small tour of the Lanzarote coast.

The success of Puerto del Carmen is due in large part to the more than 6 km of beaches bordering its coastline, the tranquility of its waters and the peaceful and grateful natural environment that has been created. Parallel to the whole coast extends Avenidade las Playas, a wide promenade where all kinds of tourist services, shops, cafes and restaurants, recreational and entertainment venues, and, on the other hand, kilometers of quiet beaches.
